Hi, I'm Susan Williams, a Freelance Fundraiser, based in Scotland with 17 years' experience within the charity sector. I specialise in Individual Giving, Supporter Care and data integration, to help charities raise more income for their beneficiaries.

Who Am I ?

Susan Williams

Susan Williams MinstF

I am a Full Member of the Institute of Fundraising (MinstF) and have worked for both large and small charities in Scotland. For the past 10 years I have worked in a management role within the Individual Giving income stream. This included creating and delivering an Individual Giving income strategy, building and strengthening teams, managing databases, and implementing supporter journeys, all of which ensured an increase in income year on year for the charities I worked with.

I am now working freelance and can base myself within your offices, delivering a hands on approach. I will work closely with you to provide a bespoke and personal service - understanding your needs and helping you achieve your goals. I can help you to get to know your supporters, understand their motivations and build strong relationships with them. I am passionate about ensuring that charities with limited resources can benefit from an efficient and effective individual giving programme.

I can help your charity with:

  • Creating an individual giving income strategy
  • Testing new Individual Giving products
  • Setting up a regular giving programme
  • Segmenting your supporter data
  • Setting up a process for claiming Gift Aid on donations made by your supporters
  • Delivering and implementing supporter journeys
  • Database management

The above is an idea of some of the services I can offer. I love speaking to charities and learning about the work you do, so please get in touch if you would like to find out more about potentially working together.

Testimonials

Susan was engaged to carry out a detailed analysis of our supporter care work, approach to data management, and to support the development of a new set of supporter journeys.

Susan analysed current processes, including financial, data entry, and Gift Aid, to provide insight into improving our supporter care work, determine growth areas and to maximise income.

Following this analysis, Susan developed, and implemented, improved processes including:

  • A streamlined Gift Aid process which uncovered unclaimed gift aid income
  • An improved gift entry and acknowledgement process
  • The development of supporter journeys for each income stream relevant to our database and resources, accompanied by delivery processes

Susan also provided recommendations on:

  • Materials to improve supporter experience
  • The resource and structure of the supporter care function
  • Recording donor consent to comply with upcoming GDPR legislation
  • Improving financial reconciliation processes

Susan’s focussed and detailed approach to this work is exemplary and her wealth of experience is helping the SAMH team to understand our next priorities and investments. Susan has provided valuable insight into our supporter care work, helping us to build even better relationships with our supporters and provide the best possible supporter care experience.

Susan’s warm and engaging style has meant she has integrated well with the SAMH team and there is no doubt our investment will bear out in significant relationship and income gains in the future.
